On the north coast of the Akamas Peninsula, the Blue Lagoon is a shallow bay protected by a small offshore islet. On calm days the water is so clear that boats seem to float in mid-air, which makes it one of the most photographed swimming spots in Cyprus.
The surrounding coast lies within the protected Akamas area, with no buildings or facilities, only rocks, scrub and the sea.
Good to know
In high summer the lagoon fills with day-trip boats from late morning onwards. Bring your own water and shade, and take all rubbish back with you.
