Nea Paphos was the capital of Cyprus in Hellenistic and Roman times, and its remains now fill a wide seaside park in Kato Paphos. The highlight is the series of villa floors, where mosaics show Dionysus, Theseus and the Minotaur, and scenes from myth in astonishing detail.
Around them you will find the restored Odeon, the agora, the ruins of the Saranta Kolones castle and the town's lighthouse. The whole area is part of the Paphos UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Good to know
There is little shade, so bring a hat and water and allow at least two hours. Most of the mosaics are under protective roofs.

Aphrodite's Rock (Petra tou Romiou)The sea stack where, in legend, Aphrodite rose from the foam. A pebble cove framed by white cliffs on the old Paphos–Limassol coast road, and one of the island's great sunset stops.
Tombs of the KingsA vast Hellenistic and Roman necropolis cut into the seaside rock north of Kato Paphos, with atrium tombs that feel like underground houses.
Avakas GorgeA narrow limestone gorge on the edge of the Akamas, where cliffs close in to just a few metres apart. One of Cyprus's most rewarding short hikes.
