Agios Nikolaos tis Stegis, "St Nicholas of the Roof", is one of the ten Painted Churches of the Troodos on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The pitched wooden roof was added over the original domed church to shield it from rain and snow.
Inside, layer upon layer of frescoes span six centuries of Byzantine and post-Byzantine painting, which makes it one of the most complete examples of its kind on the island.
