Founded in 1882 and housed in its neoclassical building since 1908, the Cyprus Museum holds the most important finds from excavations across the island. Highlights include the cross-shaped picrolite idols of the Chalcolithic period, the hundreds of terracotta figures from Agia Irini, and the marble Aphrodite of Soli.
The galleries move chronologically, so a visit works as a crash course in Cyprus's past before heading out to the sites themselves.
Good to know
